Beard Oil, what is it and why do you need it.

Let me start off by saying, I was just like you at one time. I asked the same questions, unfortunately, I asked them too late. By then I had already shaved off the month's growth that I had because having a beard was such an annoying experience. When I decided to attempt another beard, I did some research beforehand to see if I was missing anything.  In that search, I discovered Beard Oil (cue the trumpets.) Beard Oil is an awesome product to have around, not only for those guys with the business beards but also the men who are reaching for terminal length.

What is it?

Beard oil is made from natural oils like almond, grapeseed or the super popular jojoba oil. Beard oil is, in essence, a product available to men that will add additional oils to one's beard and skin, a leave-in conditioner for your face. Beard oil is packed with nourishing benefits while also being nontoxic, hypoallergenic, and can enhance the beard's natural oils.  Most men scoff at the idea of introducing beard oil to their daily grooming routine. Why? You already have an established routine that you follow, why not add an extra step that is quicker than flossing.  I can already hear some groans, I may have just groaned a bit myself. Another thing to do! Much like everyone else in this world, I wake up giving myself just enough time to get out the door for work, adding something new to the mix will require me to get up 3 minutes sooner, meh.

Why do you need it?

Again most men still believe they don’t need to use any beard related products at all. Ladies, this is where you can get involved and carefully caress our monkey brains so we can accept the introduction of beard care products. Ladies, you know the benefits of moisturizers and conditioners and how they affect your skin and hair. Beard oils, and balms do the same thing for men. Beard oil moisturizes facial hair and the skin beneath; they hydrate the skin and help to soften coarse beard hair. As a styling agent, beard oil can give your beard a shiny and groomed look avoiding the shaggy, flakey or generally unkempt look.

How do I use it, you ask?

The best time to use and apply your beard oil is right after washing your face or showering. After a shower, your hair follicles and pores are opened and can easily absorb the oil. Remember, despite our "more is better" world, beard oil goes a long way in small quantities. Five to seven drops is plenty, but more can be added depending on the size and fullness of your beard. The beard balm can also be used as a tune up later in the day to freshen up your beard and take care of any late day flyaways. Moisturization is even more important for people that live in cold or dry climates or in heavily polluted environments.  Another benefit of moisturizing for beards is the elimination of those pesky white flakes or beard-ruff as it's commonly known now. Both the beard oil and balms act as a natural cologne, keeping your beard hair smelling clean and fresh.  Beard oil and balms are perfect for those guys who don't like the standard overpowering colognes on the market.
